I would like to see the percentage rules removed. The percentage rules have made it increasingly difficult to maintain a competitive edge when competing at middletown, accord, and bethel. Adding ballast movement to the tire, gear and suspension changes already necessary when competing at all 3 is a hinderance. In conjunction with the traveling difficulties, i dont understand the nature of the rules. Producing a race car with optimal percentages is probably the cheapest means of achieving excellent handling. Percentages far greater than currently allowable are easily achieved with different wheel offsets and common sense component/ ballast placement within the perimeter of existing rules. (its not rocket science) I understand that a fundamental purpose of the rules is to produce a fair competitive environment for all racers.

If my previous post seems unrealistic, i have another idea. Allowing percentage difference based on weight. Middletown mandates 3200lbs and accord 3150. My proposal is this: a simple scale .1% for every 10lbs over 3100lbs. Meaning that a car weighing in @ 3200lbs after the race would be allowed 55% left and 49%. This should be very simple to calculate on the fly, as the car's scale after the race.

As far as electric fans go, the weight of a fan itself would contribute to the rotating mass. The air movement generated by the fan will contribute to parasidic load. An electric fan would free the engine of rotating mass and parasidic load.

Why not electric fans? Doesn't give an advantage At this time we will not be allowing electric fans, as none of our surrounding tracks do either.

This should be very simple to calculate on the fly, as the car's scale after the race. I've spoken to a few drivers who wish to remain anonymous, and they feel the rule is fine the way it is. I have also spoken to other asphalt tracks around that have this very same rule, and the reasoning is very simple, as ours was when we started using this rule: If you give the competitor an unlimited amount of left side or rear weight, you will most definitely have dominant cars, as has been seen before the inception of this rule. Not everyone has the luxury of scales, nor can they afford them. Our percentage restrictions are to keep them close to a stock built car. While I see your argument, it isn't practical for someone without the means of knowing where to put the weight, because they don't have the necessary tools.

George, you do realize that "anonymous driver" puts a big dent in your credibility!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did anyone stop to think that the purpose of an open rules forum is for to openly discuss rules! Congratulations on further widening the spread in rule differences between the 3 local tracks. If someone can't openly convey a reason to or not to make a rule change, its only logical to doubt there is one. I'd like to know what tracks have such percentage rules? What type of street/pure stock classes do they run, are they generally more constricted by their rule book?

Why does consistency between tracks only matter when it comes to electric fans?
